Mr. Sable

A wizard who paints. Every day Sable paints a set of pictures, and each book is that day's set.

Sable is an old wizard-painter in a paint-spattered blue smock, with his spectacles pushed up on his forehead. He paints whatever the day gives him — harbours, gardens, doors, and quite often the same house twice by accident — then tells you about each picture in his own words. He rarely says what a painting is. He says what he was thinking while he made it.
